The Foundation for the Advancement of Knowledge Shipbuilding and Marine Tours was founded in 1995 under the sponsorship of the Navy in the figure of Admiral Chief of Staff (It covers), and President of the Association of Naval Architects of Spain(AINE). To develop the initial idea of this institution a Technical Committee which was developing it and stockpiling materials that later form the basis of the current Museum exhibition Shipbuilding was created, and abundant Bibliographical.
Later, in 2004, legal form was given to the Foundation with the wording of the statutes, the establishment and composition of the Board, Patrons of both elective as ex officio by virtue of his office. Thus accommodate as essential to the functioning of the Foundation gave institutions suchas Xunta de Galicia, Ferrol City Council, the Provincial Council, University of A Coruña, the Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao, the highest authority of the Navy in Ferrol, currently Chief Admiral Ferrol Arsenal, the company Navantia, as well as other institutions such as the Institute of Engineering of Spain, the Foundation Innovamar, etc. The Composition of the Board link you can see the current composition of the Board that governs and monitors the operation of the institution.
Grants and Loans have been the main source of material inlet; donations from institutions, as other foundations and individual. Special mention needs to be done to countless Navy repos, Navantia and lots of individuals who donate their precious objects, with the only condition being related to our object: Gather, exhibit and keep the technical heritage, ornamental and documentary on shipbuilding and the maritime industry in Spain, related to the National Exhibition of Shipbuilding Ferrol and temporary or traveling exhibitions that take place within the Spanish territory. Encourage complementary activities related to the sea and shipbuilding, such as sample collection and photography and painting, fund restoration workshops, Enable permanent conference rooms and temporary, exhibitions, etc.
